NOTES
Additional Information:A 'site file' titled "Dalton Historic District" exists for this property. It contains additional information such as correspondence, newspaper clippings, or historical information. It is a public record and may be viewed in person at the Wisconsin Historical Society, Division of Historic Preservation. THIS INTACT QUEEN ANNE STYLE HOUSE HAS A PANELLED CONCRETE BLOCK FOUNDATION, CLAPBOARD-CLAD WALLS, AND GABLE AND DORMER ENDS CLAD IN DIAMOND PATTERN WOOD SHINGLES. THIS HOUSE IS ALMOST IDENTICAL WITH THE NEARBY HOUSE LOCATED AT W6551 STH 44 AND IT IS BELIEVED TO BE A CONTRIBUTING RESOURCE IN A POTENTIAL NRHP HISTORIC DISTRICT THAT CONTAINS FIVE HOUSES ON THE SOUTH SIDE OF STH 44 AT THIS LOCATION AND A FARM COMPLEX ON THE NORTH SIDE. THIS HOUSE WAS SURVEYED IN CONJUNCTION WITH A SEC. 106 SURVEY OF STH 44 (WisDOT # 6030-00/01/02).

THIS HOUSE WAS BUILT BETWEEN 1910 AND 1915 FOR ELIZABETH DALTON LAWSON, ONE OF THE TEN CHILDREN OF JOHN AND JEANETTE DALTON, WHOSE FARMHOUSE IS ACROSS THE ROAD AT W6516 STH 44 (AHI# 90192). JEANNETE DALTON PLATTED A STRETCH OF LAND ON THE SOUTH SIDE OF STH 44 INTO TEN LOTS, ONE FOR EACH OF HER CHILDREN. FIVE OF THEM BUILT HOUSES ON THESE LOTS BETWEEN 1910 AND 1920.
