JAPANESE INFLUENCE, PAGODA STYLE CUPOLA W/HANGING LATERNS. MAIN ROOF AND PAGODA ROOF W/FLARED EAVES. ESCHWEILER DESIGNED PROTOTYPE FOR WADHAMS OIL & GREASE CO. OF MILWAUKEE.

"Over 30 of there "Japanese Tea House" filling stations were built by Wadham's Oil and Grease Company of Milwaukee. Of the few remaining, this is a good example of the larger variety which had pagoda cupolas on the roof adorned by hanging lanterns. The designer was Milwaukee architect Alexander C. Eschweiler. The existence of the station adjacent to the Cedarburg Mill provides an interesting juxtaposition of style and materials." A Walk Through Yesterday in Cedarburg
