Additional Information: | The Hillside Resort consists of eight lakefront cabins; a single and a two-unit inland cabin; the owner's residence and office with attached lodge and a garage/storage building. Hillside Resort, which originally consisted of twelve acres, was established in 1912 by John Jaud and included a maple sugar camp. In 1921, he sold to William H. Love and Jaud then established the Edgewater Resort a half-mile west of Hillside Resort. By 1924, the property included a two-story main lodge and four cottages. In circa 1936, C.M. Christianson purchased the resort; however, Mr. and Mrs. Al Speers managed the property. In 1946, the property was sold to the Petersons, who added a few more cabins; raised the house to match the lodge and then connected the two buildings with the kitchen. In 1976, the Petersons sold to the Calintrinos, who ran it for four years. In 1980, it was sold to the Peske and Wisniewski families; the Peskes then bought out the Winiewskis interest. The property has since been in the hands of the Robert Anderson family. |
