NOTES
Additional Information:The Gateway Inn was historically associated with the Gateway Lodge, located across the road at 4105 County Highway B. Built in 1938, the Inn houses a dining room, tap room cocktail lounge, bowling alley and billiard room. The Inn straddled the Wisconsin and Michigan border and its rumored that at one time a line was painted on the floor to distinguish which state you were in. The Inn went under a major renovation in the early 1990s and now serves as a butcher shop and deli and his no longer associated with Gateway Lodge.
For more info on the Gateway Lodge, see comments for record #132238 and also see Survey of Historic Resorts: Vilas County, Prepared by Heritage Research, Ltd., 2004.
