Additional Information: | The property consists of the main lodge and twelve cabins, as well as a few ancillary buildings--most of which are constructed of vertical log. This resort was established by Larry Doolittle in 1929. After working with his brother Al at Rocky Reef Reef Resort on Trout Lake, Al purchased two, forty-two acre parcels and seven lake lots on Little Crooked Lake in 1928. That first winter Larry and his son Kenneth erected the lodge and two cabins from cedar logs from the property itself and the resort opened the following summer. Expansion occurred over the next two years and, in 1931, Larry's son Syd joined in running the resort for the next three summers and son Lester worked as a guide. The Doolittles retained the resort until 1947, when they sold to the Rhodas and the Marschkes, who operated it until 1972. That year it was sold to Frank and LaVergn Voda, who operated the resort until selling to John Sprister in 1982. Current owners Noel and Laurel Malicki purchased the property in 1986. |
