NOTES
Additional Information:A 'site file' (Eagle Waters Resort) exists for this property. It contains additional information such as correspondence, newspaper clippings, or historical information. It is a public record and may be viewed in person at the Wisconsin Historical Society, Division of Historic Preservation-Public History.

This resort property consists of the following: a ca. 1940s main lodge(constructed of vertical log);four 1960s condo buildings'four 1950s-60s, board-sided cabins; a modern residence; and over twenty cabins (constructed or sheathed with manufactured log, vertical log, clapboard, drop siding or T-11 wood siding). In addition, the property includes a swimming pool with a large bathhouse/patio structure, tennis courts, sand volleyball court, horseshoe pits and shuffleboard courts. Many of the newer cabins are adjacent to the water's edge, while additional rows of cabins are located further inland.

The Eagle Waters Resort was begun in 1922 by Malcolm D. Keyes. Keyes was born in 1883 in Vermont and grew up in Minneaopolis. By 1916, his health wsa declining and his wife marie Wallace suggested that they move to the 100-acre tract that she held in Vilas County, on the shores of Eagle Lake. The resort was established in 1922; the original main lodge of which was two stories high and included sleeping rooms on the second floor (this building was torn down in the Spring of 2004). As well, a number of cottages are noted as extant in 1924. The log structure currently serving as the main lodge was built in the 1940s. In circa 1935, Morrie and Elizabeth Holzman operated the property as a seasonal American Plan resort. Their daughter and son-in-law, Charlotte and Sherwin Glazer took over the operation in 1960. For the last four years, the property has been operated by Jeff and Laura Koranda.
