NOTES
Additional Information:Initially surveyed in 2004.

When opened, South Side served the neighborhood as a combination elementary and junior high school. Ninth graders were added to the school in 1932 due to the exhausted capacity at nearby Sheboygan High School; they stayed at South Side until North High School was opened in 1938. Due to increased enrollment, conversion of the original cafeteria into classrooms was necessary by 1948. When the nearby Wilson Elementary was opened in 1959, elementary classes were shifted there; South Side was then turned over to grades seven through nine. In 1960 the school was renamed in honor of William S. Farnsworth. Additions and remodeling to the original 1931 building were completed in 1973-74, 1997, and 2005.
