NOTES
Additional Information:Featuring wide, overhanging eaves, this two-story, Prairie Style residence is clad with brick on the first story and aluminum siding on the upper level. The primary elevation is dominated by a one-story, open porch with brick pier supports, which shelters an entrance that is flanked by period sidelights. A paired and a tripartite window arrangement are also located within the porch area. The north elevation features a slightly projecting, hipped wall dormer; a two-story wing extends to the south, and a hipped-roof dormer is located along the front (west). The majority of the windows are twelve-over-one light sashes; however, a few openings have been replaced with one-over-one-light sashes. A later, one-story, brick addition with a hipped roof is situated at the rear.

Henry Steger was the son of the owner and operator of the John Steger Brewing Company. In the 1930s, Henry Steger partnered with Charles Koepsell and ran a funeral home business out of this residence. The wing to the south was built to facilitate the change of use for the house. Koepsell & Steger dissolved their business in 1940. Steger remained in the home until 1946.
