Additional Information: | Of the remaining historic-era fish shanties, this is the only one for which a solid construction date could be confirmed. It was built for the Seger Fish Co., which was founded by Frank Seger, along with his two sons, Harold and Robert. Frank, who had been fishing on sea vessels since the age of fourteen, retired in 1963. Although the Seger Co. ceased to operation for about a decade (c1964-1976), it was again restarted by Harold's sons, Gary and Glen, who operate as the Great Lakes Fish Co. out of the subject shanty well into the 2000s. |
