Additional Information: | November 2003-This motel complex consists of a c. 1890 building that remains from an early Kilbourne-era resort, three c. 1965 motel buildings, and a single c. 1970 motel building. The c. 1890 building is a two story cube with a truncated hipped roof, faced in cut stone on the lower level and wide-gauge artificial siding on the upper level. Windows are a combination of replacement, double hung, one over one sash, and casements, with the original stone sills and lintels. Three historic additions located on the rear elevation are clad in vertical board siding. A large modern addition that houses an indoor pool, motel office, and porte cochere is located on the front elevation. Three c. 1965 one-story motel buildings are located on the property. Each is faced in cut stone and has a flat roof with overhanging eaves that shelter the front walk. Each motel unit façade consists of an entrance door and a large fixed window with awning type windows below. A c. 1970 one story, ranch style motel building with four units and a c. 1970 garage are located at the rear of the property. A modern outdoor swimming pool is located at the front of the property, near Broadway Street, as well as a c. 1965 neon sign. As of 12/2019, the building will be demolished for a Kwik Trip. |
