TRANSOM OVER DOOR. "this store was built by N. D. Crosby for his general merchandise business. Constructed with brick walls throughout, it is still very much intact. Original features include the slender cast-iron columns flanking the front entrance, the cast-iron lintel above the storefront, and the corbelled brick parapet which tops the facade and hides the gable end of the roof. The most interesting feature of the south wall is a polygonal oriel window which replaced a second-floor entrance door from which a staircase once led to the ground. In early years it was also used by a furniture and undertaking business, then later as a social hall. More recently it has housed a painting business, auto parts store, offices, and veterinary service. The second floor and rear portion of the first floor have been used for residential purposes."
