Additional Information: | A 'site file' exists for this property. It contains additional information such as correspondence, newspaper clippings, or historical information. It is a public record and may be viewed in person at the Wisconsin Historical Society, State Historic Preservation Office. 2018 - This two-story brick clad building is Building No. 7 on the VAHC campus. Currently serving as offices, the building was originally constructed as attendant's living quarters. It is built into the naturally occurring slope on the western side of Highland Avenue and has a mostly square footprint and a flat roof. The tan brick veneer also features the same common bond pattern as was utilized on the main hospital building. The building’s main entrance faces west toward the main hospital building (Figure 15). The front entrance was altered with a new covered doorway and rounded flat aluminum clad cantilevered pent roof over enclosed glass entrance, replacing an asymmetrical and curvilinear pent roof. These changes were made sometime after 2000. The southern elevation also appears to be an addition dating from the same period. This addition is slightly recessed from the façade and features bands of ribbon windows on the first and second stories with a concrete sill. The southeastern corner of the building is rounded along with its windows. |
