Additional Information: | This 2-story Front-Gabled building was constructed c.1885 to function as a tavern with attached barber shop. It is rectangular in plan with aluminum siding and an asphalt-shingled gable roof with a pent roof spanning the wall below the gable (creating a pedimented appearance). The front elevation faces southeast and is symmetrical in composition with the exception of a 1-story mass that extends the width of the first story to the north (this extension historically held a small barber’s shop). The front door is centered in the main building mass; pairs of 1-over-1 windows are located on each side of this; the extended portion of the façade contains a second doorway and a large 2-over-2 window. The entire width of the façade is spanned by a 1-story porch that features a cream brick foundation and an asphalt-shingled shed roof with metal pole supports that are angled outward from bottom to top. The second story of the façade contains two differently sized 1-over-1 windows. |
