Additional Information: | A 'site file' exists for this property. It contains additional information such as correspondence, newspaper clippings, or historical information. It is a public record and may be viewed in person at the Wisconsin Historical Society, State Historic Preservation Office. This building contributes to the architectural significance of the Columbus Circle Historic District as an interesting example of a mid-twentieth century gabled ell house. This house is distinctive primarily for its stone veneer covering. It makes this rather plain version of a "Cape Cod" house more stylish. The round-arched entrance has a surround of irregular rusticated stones, that with the stone veneer, suggest the Tudor Revival style. The second owners of the house were Walter and Jessie Francisco. They bought the house in the mid-1940s. Francisco owned a Studebaker car dealership from the late 1930s until it closed around 1957. They lived in the house until their deaths in the early 1990s. |
