Additional Information: | 2000- "This farmstead is comprised of two well-preserved gambrel roofed barns, a gambrel roofed Dutch Colonial influenced house and several small outbuildings including a corn crib. The early 20th century basement bam features a shingled gambrel roof with a hanging gable and a high masonry foundation with small rectangular windows with six lights in the lower story of the bam above the foundation. An exceptionally well-preserved small bam displays a shingled gambrel roof, tile construction with a concrete foundation. It is further characterized by six over six windows on the lower story and in the gambrel ends. Chimneys are located on both ends of the roof ridge. Modern siding and a shingled roof cover the gambrel-roofed house. An enclosed porch and a rear garage addition were added to the house. This farmstead was constructed for Herman Higgins on land purchased from John Coumbe in the early 20th century. This farmstead was given the name Riverscene when it was constructed. Presently, it appears to be used as residential property (Town of Richwood, Wisconsin, Plat Map, 1874,1895,1903,1919,1931,1936, 1951)." -"Muscoda, Blue River, Boscobel, WI", WisDOT#5190-06-00, Prepared by Joan Rausch (Architectural Resources, Inc.), (2000). |
