Additional Information: | THIS MAINTENANCE BUILDING WAS CONSTRUCTED DURING THE 1930S AS A WPA PROJECT FOR WHITNALL PARK AND THE BOERNER BOTANICAL GARDENS. IT IS ARCHITECTURALLY SIGNIFICANT AS A GOOD EXAMPLE OF THE COLONIAL REVIVAL STYLE, UNUSUAL IN A SERVICE BUILDING. IT MATCHES THE ADMINISTRATION AND RESTROOM BUILDINGS IN THE GARDENS. IT IS ALSO HISTORICALLY SIGNIFCANT AS A WPA PROJECT, ONE OF THE MOST IMPORTANT WORK PROGRAMS OF THE 1930S. |
