Additional Information: | July 2002-The most significant outbuilding is a circa 1920s, rainbow roof bank barn that is sheathed in vertical board and rests upon a stone foundation. A flat roof, brick milkhouse is attached to the barn, while a metal silo lies to the rear (south). Other buildings include a gambrel roof, vertical board clad hay barn; a board sided animal barn; as well as a garage and a shed covered with drop siding. Many of these auxiliary outbuildings date to the early twentieth century. The earliest available plat (1870) indicates a farmstead was extant at this location and was owned by B.S. Rollins. By 1895, the property had been passed on to W. Moore, who, in turn, sold it to G. Smith by 1901. Smith owned the tract until at least 1915; however, Clark Hoffman is listed as the occupant on a 1920 plat. Hoffman remained on the property into at least the 1950s. No information any of these owners was located. |
