Additional Information: | QUEEN ANNE MASSING BUT HEAVY FLAT STONE LINTELSBARGEBOARDS AND WOOD SHINGLES INGABLES This house was constructed for Louis A. Noll in 1900. Noll emigrated from Germany in 1853 and settled on a farm near Waterford with his parents. Originally trained as a cooper, Noll opened a general store in Waterford, which burned down in 1898. Noll built the subject commercial building later that year and reopened his general store. Soon thereafter, Noll with his three sons Louis L, Charles and Oswald expanded into real estate and loans. In 1907, Noll chartered Noll’s Bank and it opened it in an addition (1906) that connected his home with his commercial building. Noll died in 1910 and his son Louis L. took over the house and became bank president in 1921. Meanwhile, Charles took over all interest in the general store. Louis L. Noll died in 1926 and his wife, Bessie, lived at the home into the 1950s. Surveyed by Heritage Research (2012). |
