DOUBLE AND SINGLE POINTED ARCH WINDOWS W/KEYSTONE OR STILTED ROSE WINDOW IN 2 STORY MANSARD ROOF TOWER. 3 STORY CNR BELL TOWER W/ENTRANCE. CORBELLED BELT COURSE. BRICK BUTTRESSES W/STONE CAPPING. THE UPPER PORTION OF THE BELL TOWER WAS ARTIFICIALLY SIDED SOMETIME BETWEEN 1986 AND 1994. THIS CHURCH IS THE THIRD CONGREGATIONAL CHURCH TO OCCUPY THE SITE. THE FIRST WAS BUILT IN 1850 AND MOVED IN 1863 TO 1106 ELEVENTH AVE. BEFORE BEING TORN DOWN. THE SECOND CHURCH WAS A BRICK GOTHIC REVIVAL STYLE BUILDING THAT BURNED DOWN IN 1892. THE PRESENT CHURCH WAS BUILT DIRECTLY ON THE FOUNDATION OF THE CHURCH THAT BURNED. RITA ALSWAGER IS THE TREASURER AND HISTORIAN OF THE CHURCH. |
