Additional Information: | November 2001-This two-story, flat-roofed, brick, Commercial vernacular business block was erected in 1904 (datestone). Brick pilasters divide the building into three storefronts. All three storefronts are altered, although the northern two retain original cast iron posts, as well as an I-beam ornamented with rosettes and surmounted by decorative brickwork. At the second story, 1/1 double-hung windows with stone lintels and stills appear. Ornamental brickwork at the cornice embellishes the building. Statement of Significance: In 1931, a drugstore occupied the southernmost storefront in this business block. The other two housed unidentified stores. In 1966, the commercial tenants were (north-to-south): Werner Drugstore, Schmidt Floor Covering and Gerry's Grill and Fountain. |
