Additional Information: | 2000/2001 Modern fenestration dominates the house with the exception of two, multiple light sash windows which are located along the first level and under the front porch. Historic plat maps provide evidence that a farmstead, owned by J. Curtis, existed on this property as early as 1862. Although the barn appears to have additions, its original portion could well date back to Curtis' ownership. By 1875, C. Hefner obtained the property. He, in turn, sold it to J. Mellius by 1889. Fred Emley owned the property by 1902, as did N.E. Illian who owned it by 1916. It is likely the residence was built by Illian. This parcel remained in the Illian family until at least 1950. |
