NOTES
Additional Information:Resurveyed 2016: no changes. This 2-story Twentieth Century Commercial building was constructed in 1925. It is rectangular in plan with rugged stone veneer siding at the first story and red brick walls at the second story. The front elevation faces south and is asymmetrical in plan with a recessed doorway at the east end of the elevation and two small single-pane windows west of the door. A metal awning spans the façade above the first story. The second story consists of three windows; the outer two are 6-over-1 and the middle window is 8-over-1; all windows appear to be modern replacements. A stone date block below the roofline in the center of the elevation reads “POST OFFICE.” Stone blocks are located at the upper corners of each window and at the upper front corners of the façade. 2017: Same as 2016. 2022: This two-story commercial vernacular former post office was constructed in 1925. It is of brick construction and has a rectangular plan. The flat roof has metal coping and features an interior brick chimney at the rear. The east and west (side) elevations have stepped parapets. A stone date block in the center of the front (south) facade reads “POST OFFICE” with 1925 included below. Inlaid concrete panels are located at the upper front corners of the facade and second-story windows. The first story features a recessed entrance and a replacement, metal-framed storefront with fixed-frame windows with transoms. Glass-block windows are located below the storefront windows. The second story features three replacement vinyl windows with soldier-course lintels and a continuous concrete sill. The stone veneer on the storefront, metal awning, and projecting sign present during the previous survey have been removed. The stone date block indicates the building operated as a post office when constructed in 1925. A review of available historic maps, photos, and local histories was inconclusive as to other occupants of this location throughout most of the twentieth century. The building appears to be vacant as of 2022.
