Additional Information: | Built between 1895 and 1900. CORBELLED CORNICE. SEGMENTAL ARCH WINDOWS. Resurveyed 2016: no changes. This 2-story Commercial Vernacular building was constructed c.1895. It is rectangular in plan with brick walls and a flat roof. The front elevation faces south and is symmetrical in plan with 2 recessed doorways flanked by large storefront windows at the first story and three modern vinyl windows with segmental arched brick crowns at the second story; the outermost second story windows are 3-over-1 while the middle window is single-pane fixed-sash with decorative transom. All second story windows have decorative shutters. Decorative corbelling is located at the front corners, just below the roofline. The building features a simple, metal cornice. 2017: Same as 2016. 2022: This two-story, commercial vernacular building was constructed c.1895. It is of brick masonry construction with a rectangular plan. It has a flat roof with metal coping and an interior brick chimney at the rear. The building features a metal cornice at the front (south) facade roofline and decorative brick corbelling located at the front corners of the facade just below the cornice. The first story features a metal frame storefront with two recessed entrances flanked by large, fixed-framed, glass windows and transoms. The second story features three wood windows; the outermost windows are 6-over-1 and the middle window is single-pane fixed sash with a decorative transom. The second-story windows have segmental-arched brick crowns and decorative wood shutters. A vinyl awning not original to the building has been removed. Located above the metal-framed storefront are rosettes that indicate the building may have originally had an iron column storefront prior to installation of the current storefront. Research did not indicate the original business at this location, although WHPD records indicate this building was an antique store when surveyed in 1975. When surveyed in 2001, the building was used by Kerkhoff Interiors. Presently this building is the office of C. Renier Architects, Inc., which opened at this location sometime in the 2000s. |
