Additional Information: | A 'site file' titled "West Racine Commercial Historic District" exists for this property. It contains additional information such as correspondence, newspaper clippings, or historical information. It is a public record and may be viewed in person at the Wisconsin Historical Society, State Historic Preservation Office. Resurveyed 2015. 2015- "This two-story commercial building was constructed in 1920. It has a flat roof and exterior walls clad in brick. The facade's decorative elements have a horizontal emphasis. The second story windows are framed by a continuous limestone rectangle that is open on its east side. West of these windows are three raised brick squares, arranged vertically. The second story windows are wood framed stacked casements. There are three windows with a three by three configuration on the outside edges, and a large off-center window with a six by three configuration. The first story is occupied by three storefronts. The west storefronts have large display windows and a central recessed entrance. They both share a retractable fabric awning. Between the west and east storefronts is a recessed pedestrian door that likely provides access to the second story. The east store front has a large display window resting on a blonde brick knee wall and a recessed entrance. The storefront has a retractable fabric awning, as well as a fixed flat metal awning." - "Washington Ave (STH 20), Roosevelt Ave to West Blvd", WISDot #2440-09-00, Prepared by Shelley Greene (2015). |
