Additional Information: | A 'site file' titled "Washington Avenue Residential Historic District" exists for this property. It contains additional information such as correspondence, newspaper clippings, or historical information. It is a public record and may be viewed in person at the Wisconsin Historical Society, State Historic Preservation Office. Resurveyed 2015. 2015- "This two-story American Foursquare duplex was constructed in 1918. It has a rectilinear footprint that is expanded by a one story open porch and balcony that spans the width of the facade. The porch roof is flat and wrapped in a metal railing; it serves as a balcony for the second story. The roof is supported by battered columns atop brick piers. Between the piers are knee walls, the west half of the porch has a wide run of stairs with wrought iron railings. The roof of the house itself is hipped and features a hip roof dormer on the facade slope. The exterior walls of the house are clad in vinyl siding, and the basement in brick. The facade is divided into two fenestration bays. The east bays on the first and second story has a string of three windows where the center is wider than the outer two. The windows are one-over-one in form; the upper sashes have six lights spaced to create large central light. These window strings are flanked by decorative fixed shutters. The west bays of the first and second stories have pedestrian doors to the duplex units and to the balcony. All three of the doors are wood with modern storms and multi-light windows." - "Washington Ave (STH 20), Roosevelt Ave to West Blvd", WISDot #2440-09-00, Prepared by Shelley Greene (2015). |
