Additional Information: | This essentially front-gabled house has some notable details, including bargeboards and carved brackets. A farmer named Calvin H.P. Wilcox built the house, which eventually was owned by Dr. Peter Majerus and his wife, Sophia. The Majeruses lived in this residence, while they converted the house at 408 W. Madison Avenue (across the street) into a hospital. Dr. Majerus is deceased; however, Sophia--who turned 102 years old in 1999--continues to reside at the subject address. |
