Additional Information: | Historic name interpreted from historic plats. Circa construction date implied through observation. Other buildings include barn (AHI 117740), silo, crib, pole barn, sheds and garages. This is a one-and-one-half story house. Some of the original two-over-two windows remain, many of which are crowned with brick segmental arches. A wide, plain frieze accents the front-gabled main block. A one-story, hip-roof porch extends from the facade of a projecting wing; it is supported with modern metal supports. A circa 1950s picture window was added to the front first level. Historically, a farm has occupied this site at least as early as 1860, when it was part of an eighty-acre operation maintained by J. Fuller. In 1873, A. Miller owned the tract, which contained 160 acres. It is thought he was the owner of the property when the subject house was likely built in circa 1890; however, it is possible that Joseph Metzger, Sr., constructed it. By 1920, W.C. Schultz assumed ownership of the farmstead, which evidently remained in the Schultz family through at least 1947. |
