The First Settlement Neighborhood: A Walking Tour: "The Madison Saddlery Company was founded in 1875 by Charles Hoebel, an immigrant from the province of Hanover, Germany. He developed an extensive regional wholesale harness and leather business with his sons in a location at 116 King Street. They occupied that building from 1885 until they built the East Wilson Street building, which afforded direct loading to both wagons and trains."
