Additional Information: | ARCHITECTURAL SIGNIFICANCE: Good example of typical brick retail store/apartments of this date with integrity of form and appearance. Fred Wilmanns hired in 1895 the architectural firm Ferry & Clas to design this building. The building was the longtime home of Wenzler Meat Market (1920s to 1960s), while the other storefront over the same tenure included a clothing store, hardware store and dress shop. Today, it is home the social services organization Repairers of the Breach. 2015- "Faced with brick, this three-story building displays elements of the Twentieth-Centmy Commercial style. The storefront has been renovated with downsized plate-glass windows and stucco-covered panels; an ornamental stone band extends on top of the storefront. A two-story, canted bay is oriented on each corner of the upper levels. Each is underlined with a pair of flat wooden brackets and features ornamental panels between the two levels. Four windows on each floor pierce the expanse between the bays. All windows are modern, plate-glass examples with those on the second level located in rectangular openings and those on the third floor occupying slightly pointed-arch openings. The cornice consists of raised brick. Fred Wilmanns hired in 1895 the architectural firm Feny & Clas to design this building. The building was the longtime home of Wenzler Meat Market ( 1920s to 1960s ), while the other storefront over the same tenure included a clothing store, hardware store and dress shop. Today, it is home to Repairers of the Breach, a social services organization." -"W Vliet St, N 27th St (west) to N 12th St (east)", WISDot 2984-00-03, Prepared by Heritage Research, Ltd. (Brian J.
