NOTES
Additional Information:This structure is typical of a 1920's commercial building. Its design has Spanish Colonial Revival elements. This building was constructed in 1925 (datestone) by Elias Wucherer and was known as the Wucherer Building. Wucherer was born in Austria and immigrated to Wisconsin in 1903. He worked as a baker and constructed the subject building to include his bakery. Directories indicate that in the 1920s and 1930s Wucherer’s building held professional offices for architects, dentists, attorneys and physicians with turnover relatively frequent. 2015- "Rising two stories, this Period Mediterranean Revival-style commercial block sits at the northheast corner of N 27th and W. Vliet streets. While the storefronts on both primary facades are completely modernized with wooden infill and replacement plate-glass windows, the upper level retains much of its original detail. The upper floor displays ornate brick parapets at each corner connected along the west and south facades by a tile pent roof; a pedimented gab let is found at the center of the pent on the western facade. The pent is underscored by a plain cornice. Second-level detail includes thin, stone, twisted columns and stone banding. Windows are regularly placed and consist primarily of one-over-one, double-hung sashes topped with multi-light transoms. The sashes either are paired or in tripartite groupings with the center consisting of a picture window.
