| Additional Information: | 1999- "This two-story frame early twentieth century vernacular commercial building was built c. 1910. The building has a decorative parapet with a central pediment on its boomtown front. Most of the building's original details have been obscured by the addition of modern materials. The building has replacement one-over-one double-hung windows that are covered with modern aluminum storm windows and adorned with rustic wood shutters. The building has a combination of composite shingles and vertical plank wood siding on its first-story facade. A concrete porch spans the full front facade, and a small shed-roofed aluminum porch has been added over one of the front entry doors. The first-story display window has been filled with vertical plank wood siding and large stationary picture windows. Original doors have been replaced by aluminum doors. Over the years the building has served many purposes, including a bakery shop, a small appliance and repair shop, a restaurant and a small bar, and a yarn shop." -"Allenton 7.5, Washington Co.", WisDOT#1412-02-00, Prepared by Mead & Hunt, Inc., (1999). |
