NOTES
Additional Information:A 'site file' exists for this property. It contains additional information such as correspondence, newspaper clippings, or historical information. It is a public record and may be viewed in person at the Wisconsin Historical Society, State Historic Preservation Office. Building was demolished to make way for a new road. 1999- "This one-story stone vernacular building was built by the Van Beek family c. 1940 as a filling station. The building has Art Deco stylistic influences, and is constructed of rough-cut yellow limestone laid in an irregular pattern. Vertical and horizontal coursings of red brick create a polychromatic surface design on the building's main facade. The flat roof is embellished on the front facade over the garage bay with three coursings of decorative stamped steel Spanish tiles roofing. A stone nameplate exists above the door and display window, but is obscured by a new wood sign. Fenestration of doors and windows remains unchanged, although the bay door, pedestrian entry, and office window have been modernized and partially filled. Red brick lintels accent these openings. The building is currently used as a saw sharpening business." -"Allenton 7.5, Washington Co.", WisDOT#1412-02-00, Prepared by Mead & Hunt, Inc., (1999).
