Additional Information: | ARCHITECTURAL SIGNIFICANCE: Two story brick industrial building with corbelled brick detailing on the cornice. Rusticated block foundation. Windows with arched lintels. Typical cream brick warehouse in almost totally original condition. Construction date, 1890. (3) Carliest Construct, Builder. (A) HISTORICAL SIGNIFICANCE: Was originally the warehouse of the Hilgen Manufacturing Company (sash, doors, blinds) whose main factory was located in Cedarburg. They were established in Milwaukee in 1880 and produced the millwork for a number of major Milwaukee buildings. (1,2,3) (See list Source 2). Building inscription. |
