Additional Information: | A 'site file' exists for this property. It contains additional information such as correspondence, newspaper clippings, or historical information. It is a public record and may be viewed in person at the Wisconsin Historical Society, Division of Historic Preservation. 1998- This farmstead consists of a bank barn (AHI #0114679), a log barn (AHI #0114678), over a dozen outbuildings (this entry) and a house (AHI #0114667). The survey done for the 1998 WisDOT project does not contain any condition information for the outbuildings except to suggest that many, if not all, of them have fieldstone foundations, a construction method typical on the farms of German immigrants in the area. This farmstead reflects the strong German agricultural tradition of Ozaukee County. Bavarian immigrant Johann Raess was the first of at least three generations of one German-American family whose association with the farmstead began around the the middle of the nineteenth century. |
