FILES AT THE NATIONAL MUSEUM OF AMERICAN ART IN WASHINGTON, D.C. FOR MORE INFORMATION. The sculpture was donated by former graduates of the Lincoln School and the community at large. Through the combined fundraising efforts of the Ninth Ward Booster Club and Racine school children, on February 12, 1924, the bronze statue of Lincoln was dedicated. A. L. Van den Bergen executed the 7'4" statue, entitled "All Men Created Equal." 2011- "The Lincoln Monument was designed before 1921 by sculptor Albert L. Van den Berghen and erected in its current location in 1923. The monument consists of a bronze statue of Abraham Lincoln atop a granite base. The statue is approximately 7' 4" tall; the base is approximately 5' 6" tall. The bronze Abraham Lincoln figure stands wearing a knee-length coat with a vest and tie and holding a partially unrolled scroll in his right hand. The front elevation of the monument faces southwest toward Northwestern Avenue (the direction the Lincoln figure faces). The granite base is rectangular, multi-tiered, and tapered; the upper tier of the base is polished while the bottom tier is rough-edged." -"STH 38/Northwestern Ave/State St", WisDOT #2290-17-00, Prepared by GLARC (Gail Klein), (2011). The statue was designed and cast before Van den Berghen's death in 1921; it was erected in 1923 and dedicated in 1924.
