POLYGONAL FRONT BAY. John Bradley Winslow (10/4/1851-7/13/1920) settled in Racine with his family in 1856. He graduated from Racine College (A.B. 1871, A.M. 1874) and the University of Wisconsin (LL.B. 1875) then set up practice in Racine. In 1879, he was elected City Attorney; he was re-elected in 1880, 1881, and 1882. In 1883, he was elected circuit judge of the first judicial district and was re-elected in 1889. In 1891, he was appointed by Gov. Peck to fill a vacancy on the state supreme court. In 1892, he was elected to fill an unexpired term on the state supreme court. In 1895, he was elected to a full term on the state supreme court and remained until his death. In 1907, he became chief justice. He is credited with laying the foundation for progressive legislation in the state and the nation. He was a well-known and respected jurist and author. 2001 NOT RESURVEYED--LOSS OF INTEGRITY DUE TO USE OF REPLACEMENT SIDING.
