Additional Information: | 2021: The c.1925 office building is located southwest of the 1917 canning plant. This one-and-one-half-story cube building is clad in textured brick and sits on a concrete foundation with glass block windows at the basement level. The hip roof is covered in asphalt shingles and features a central brick chimney and a wide eave overhang with wood fascia. Hip-roof dormers with vinyl siding and paired, one-over-one, double-hung windows are located on the front (south) facade and side (east and west) elevations. Windows are original one-over-one wood double-hung sash with brick sills. Concrete steps lead up to wood panel entry doors on the south facade and rear (north) elevation. A third entrance with a wood panel door is located on the side (west) elevation. Restroom signs for “Men” and “Women” are suspended from the northwest and southeast corners of the building. The interior of the office building was toured during a site visit. Fixtures appeared to be largely original and intact including wood doors, wood trim around windows and doors, and wood ceiling trim. The interior layout also appears to remain the same with the original office used by the first president of the Lodi Canning Company at the west side of the building. It currently serves as the scale office (farmers are paid by weight), and restrooms. |
