NOTES
Additional Information:Polish Catholic cemetery founded December 7, 1888, when Archbishop M. Heiss bought 30 acres from Micheal Koplin, just south of Holy Trinity Cemetery, for $16,000. Commonly called Polish Union Cemetery until Archbishop Maeemer restored its original consecreation name. Peter Waldoch (1848 - 1888) was probably the first burial. Easliest interments were in the area just south of the present gate on South 13th street. These were moved to various spots within the cemetery in 1914, when the entrance gate was moved north to its present location and the chapel was constructed. Additions to the land were acquired in 1908, 1916, 1928, 1931, 1946; total acreage is now 103.61 acres (old and new sections combined) . Funds for many of the early improvements to the cemetery, including the chaple, were provided by the Polish community of Milwaukee.

Grave Markers range from simple wood crosses to wrought iron markers to a wide variety of masonry monuments. A large statue of Madonna near the origional main entrance gate was erected in 1888. Iron picket fencing with red brick piers lines the S. 13th Street side of the cemetery.
