Additional Information: | Features of this house include carved bargeboards in the open gable ends and a full length open front porch with turned posts, spindled brackets and a spindled frieze. On the porch roof is a pediment with lattice work detailing. House built on the site of a former parsonage. Cheney May owned the property from 1895 until at least 1920. May was the proprietor of C.C. May & Co. Elevator and was the grandson of Christian May, who the community of Mayville was named after. By the 1940s, the house was owned by Ralph and Ella Tellefson who operated a local restaurant at 109-113 W Main. They lived here until the 1970s. |
