Racine records show this property on tax records in 1894 and owned by Racine Land and Improvement Company. In 1905, the property was owned by H.C. Case, a real estate and insurance man who had been in the real estate business with William Henry Miller from 1900 to 1905. When their partnership dissolved, he remained alone in the business. He enjoyed a successful career and earned a reputation as one of the leading real estate dealers in Racine. Records also show that in 1905 he married. The ownership transferred to a Mary Murphy until 1911, at which time it seems the house was rented. An ad in the Racine Journal Times on Saturday, February 25, 1911 reads "FOR RENT - 8 room Modern Dwelling. No. 516 DeKoven Ave. All Improvements-a lovely home. H.C. Case, Fifth Street, feb25t3." From 1925 until 1960, the house was owned by James P. Garvey and his wife, Nellie.
