Additional Information:1899 addition by John Paulu. Good example of a cream brick commercial building of this type retaining its integrity of form and exterior appearance. Engraving of this building - Milwaukee: One Half Century's Progress, p. 221. Originally F. Kuehn Boot and Shoe Company established in 1865. They manufactured a variety of shoe styles for distribution throughout the Midwest. Producing 250 to 300 pairs a day in 1896. Large addition designed by John Paulu built in 1899 for $8000. 2016 - resurveyed, appearance unchanged; three story industrial loft with stone foundation and water table, brick pilasters, decorative cornice on W facade. Most windows retain metal sash, some replaced or covered with plywood.
