NOTES
Additional Information:A 'site file' exists for this property. It contains additional information such as correspondence, newspaper clippings, or historical information. It is a public record and may be viewed in person at the Wisconsin Historical Society, State Historic Preservation Office. Geo. Kotze Construction Co. was the builder. DESCRIPTION 2022 - The original building, St. John the Evangelist, was a Contemporary style church constructed in 1951 according to the designs of architect Henry R. Slaby. By 1973, the building became the United Community Center (Centro de la Comunidad Unida). Several large additions have since been constructed in 1989-1990, ca. 1993, 1996-1997, and 2015. As it stands, the United Community Center is a two-story, recreation and education facility. The exterior of the original building constructed for St. John the Evangelist congregation is no longer visible; however, aerial images indicate the original building was refaced in conjunction with the one of the additions in the 1990s. Exterior cladding materials include brick veneer, rock-faced concrete block, and precast concrete panels.
