1973: "Gottfried Schloemer, the original owner, was born in Prussia in 1842, according to a biographical sketch in the Milwaukee Sentinel of July 31, 1892. He came to Milwaukee in 1845 and established a cooper shop in Milwaukee in 1870. He apparently was an active businessman, as the article states him 'a well-known south side citizen'.

As of 1973, no significant alterations or additions have been noted."
