Additional Information: | The Wisconsin Domesday Book notes that S. Beach settled on a forty-acre parcel here in 1850 and remained through at least 1860. By 1870, Prussian immigrants John (b. 1829) and Albertina (b. 1832) Wirth lived here and most likely built the subject house. The Wirths traveled to the United States in 1856 and John worked as a farm laborer in the Town of Brookfield in 1860. By 1870, the couple owned a forty-acre parcel that had a value of $2,000. Although Albertina had passed and John had retired by 1900, they had sold the property by 1891 to J. Buchholtz, for whom no information was located. Henry G. and Martha Goetz moved here sometime between 1910 and 1914. Henry died between 1920 and 1930 and Martha continued to run the farm and lived here until at least 1967. |
