| Additional Information: | 2021 This three story Romanesque Revival building was constructed in 1901 as Our Lady of Mercy Academy and Convent. The building was designed by Milwaukee architects Uehling & Linde. The H-shaped building is clad in painted brick with a raised basement and a hipped roof with a wide cornice with corbels. The front entrance, no longer in use, is marked by a portico with paired Ionic columns, pulvinated frieze, and a pediment with low relief tympanum sculpture. Fenestration is regular and consists of segmental-arched basement windows; rectangular double hung windows with elongated keystones on the first story; round-arched windows with continuous sills and terra cotta hood molding in the second story; and rectangular windows in the third story. The attic story contains several groups of hipped dormers. |
