NOTES
Additional Information:A 'site file' exists for this property called "East Wing (Old Main) / Halverson Log Cabin". It contains additional information such as correspondence, newspaper clippings, or historical information. It is a public record and may be viewed in person at the Wisconsin Historical Society, State Historic Preservation Office. LIMESTONE CHIMNEY. THE HALVERSON LOG CABIN WAS BUILT AROUND 1844 IN THE NEARBY TOWN OF RICHMOND. IT WAS MOVED TO THIS LOCATION IN 1907 FOR THE WHITEWATER HOMECOMING COMMUNITY CELEBRATION. PRESIDENT ALBERT SALISBURY OF THE STATE NORMAL SCHOOL (UW-W) SPEARHEADED THE MOVE AS A SYMBOL OF PIONEER WHITEWATER. AT FIRST, IT HAD PIONEER-ERA ARTIFACTS, BUT IN THE 1970S, THESE ARTIFACTS WERE MOVED TO THE WHITEWATER HISTORICAL SOCIETY DEPOT MUSEUM. THE UW-WHITEWATER PRESERVES THE BUILDING TODAY.
