Additional Information: | 2020 - This concrete stringer bridge passes over National Avenue just east of Kinnickinnic Avenue. It was built in 1916 by the Chicago, Milwaukee, St. Paul and Pacific Railroad, and measures 130 feet long with a longest span of 24 feet. The bridge carries three railroad tracks over the road, two of which are currently active, with automobile and pedestrian traffic passing underneath. Wrought iron railings span the distance between the concrete piers, separating the sidewalk from the roadway underneath the bridge structure. At the southern end of the bridge, an office building has been built into the abutment, consisting of a metal entryway with two bays of multi-paned windows to the south. Both the door and windows appear to be replacements. |
