NOTES
Additional Information:A 'site file' exists for this property. It contains additional information such as correspondence, newspaper clippings, or historical information. It is a public record and may be viewed in person at the Wisconsin Historical Society, State Historic Preservation Office. SQUARE CNR TOWER W/ROUND ARCHED ENTRANCE. POLYGONAL 1ST FLR BAYS ON FRONT. TRANSOM OVER DOOR. ORNATE TOWER ROOF. Previously surveyed in 1974, mapped as 6 on DOT SHARON. Although the form of the home remains intact and all above features remain in 2005; however, vinyl siding has since been applied, the front door has been replaced with a modern door and most windows have been replaced. A significantly large, attached concrete garage is located to the rear of the home and immediately adjacent to the east is an indoor pool and family room building--which is also sheathed with the blue vinyl siding like the house. William Goodall was a farmer, who was reportedly the son of William Sr. a farmer from Scarborough, Yorkshire, England. After inheriting 900 pounds, a sizeable amount = to $3966.00 in US currency at the time came to the U.S. in 1842. In 1843, he then purchased 80 acres of land in Blaine. Which is where William C. lived until he moved to Sharon, WI. After living in Blaine, Illinois, for some time, he built this residence in Sharon and operated a farm. In 1894, the house was sold to Joseph R. Lilley and his wife Sarah. Lilley was initially involved with the local feed mill with his two sons, Benjamin and Wesley; however, in 1900, the census simply notes him as a landlord. The Lilleys built a new house on Pearl Street in 1909 and sold this house to their son Benjamin. Following owners include: Frank and Florence Chester (1915 to 1925); Rufus Piper (1925 to 1945); Henry and Alice Miller (1945 to 1980); and Herbert Dierking (1980 to 1987).
