Additional Information:A 'site file' exists for this property. It contains additional information such as correspondence, newspaper clippings, or historical information. It is a public record and may be viewed in person at the Wisconsin Historical Society, State Historic Preservation Office. Wm. Bartee was the mason. Magnus Holberg was the builder. A simple masonry Gothic Revival church whose form and design was popular at the turn of the century. The original congregation was organized in 1887 and occupied a store and cottage on the same site. In 1903 the church split and became known as Bethesda Lutheran Free Church. All services were held in Norwegian until 1910. In 1932 another name change to Ebenezer Evangelical Free Church occurred and a move to 3102 S. 43rd Street in 1950s. 1973: "This church, a fine example of late Gothic Revival, was built in 1900 at a cost of $4,700. It was designed by Andrew Elleson a popular south side architect. Originally built for the Norwegian Evangelical Lutheran Free Church, it presently serves the Iglesia Evanglica Bautista Congregation."
