SUMMARY
Built between 1839 and 1939, this district is primarily residential, including fine representations of 19th century Greek Revival and Victorian styles. Also included are several commercial buildings, mostly of brick in vernacular Commercial Renaissance style. The district's center, at the corner of Main and Madison, also includes five churches, City hall (1892), and the Eager Free Public Library, built in 1908 in Prairie School style.
